Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) -The Quran is the principle source of every Muslim’s faith and practice, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures and provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and equitable economic principles. For next 100 days we are presenting some short articles on ethical issues that have been written based on the verses of Quran.
Be careful about people or activities in your life that you know you need to separate yourself from them. Holy Quran says that bad company will corrupt good morals and lead you astray. On the Day of Judgment you may say: “I wish I had followed the Apostle's way! Woe to me! I wish I had not taken so and so as a friend! Certainly he led me astray from the Reminder after it had come to me” (Quran; 25: 27-29). God wants you to constantly be growing and rising higher in life. That is why Quran encourages us to separate ourselves from corrupting influences and ask us to “do not sit with the wrongdoing lot” (Quran; 6:68). Bad influences are more than just the people in your life — it can be anything that wrongly influences your thinking.
Be careful about what you are allowing into your mind. Be careful about your spiritual food as Quran says: “So let man observe his food” (Quran; 80:24). Be careful about what you read and what you watch on TV or the internet. Do not give your attention to things that are going to drag you down. Choose to separate yourself today. Remember, God wants you to live an abundant life. He wants you be separate so that He can work through you and fulfill His purposes in your life!
So today, ask Almighty God to give you strength to separate yourself from anything that does not honor Him.
